We're a small, independent store built on a genuine obsession with men's vintage clothing. Every piece we carry has been personally sourced, inspected, and chosen because it tells a story worth wearing.
Who We Are
Civilian Store was founded with a single belief: that the best clothing was already made. From 1930s Rolex Oysters to municipal work jackets, we seek out the pieces that defined an era — and make them available to people who appreciate them as much as we do.
We're not a warehouse operation. We're collectors and enthusiasts first, retailers/wholesalers second. That means every item in our store has passed through our hands and met our standards before it reaches yours.
How We Source
Our pieces come from decades of building relationships — with estate sales, specialist dealers, private collectors, and markets across the UK and Europe. We don't buy in bulk. We buy selectively, looking for items with provenance, integrity, and character.
We focus on:
- Military & workwear — authentic field jackets, deck coats, and utility pieces from the mid-20th century
- Luxury vintage — pre-owned watches and accessories with documented history where possible
- Handmade originals — pieces like our Transit Jacket, constructed from 100% recycled fabric using 1950s patterns
Authentication & Condition Standards
We take condition seriously. Every pre-owned piece is assessed against the following grading standards before listing:
- Excellent — minimal signs of wear, all original hardware and labels intact
- Very Good — light wear consistent with age, no damage or repairs
- Good — honest vintage wear, any notable flaws clearly described and photographed
For watches and high-value accessories, we verify reference numbers, case markings, and movement details. If we can't confirm authenticity to our own satisfaction, we don't list it.
Our Point of View
Vintage isn't nostalgia for its own sake. The best vintage pieces were built to last — with materials, construction, and design that modern fast fashion simply doesn't replicate. Buying vintage is also one of the most sustainable choices you can make.
At Civilian Store, we curate with intention. We're not trying to be everything to everyone. We're here for the buyer who wants to know exactly what they're getting, and why it matters.
